Day 23 - 15 facts about you.

15 ~ I know I have mentioned this on here before but I am the youngest of 6 kids and my mom still refers to my as her 'baby'.  Not cool mom, not cool.

14 ~ I am a music nut.  Not like in the cool indie stuff no one has ever heard of.  I like the really popular songs that no one likes to admit to but somehow they sell millions and millions of records.  Katy P, B. Spears, and T-swizzle.  Yep all the good stuff.

13 ~ I love vintage cowboy boots.

12 ~ I have a very loud laugh that is only tolerable if you love me....a lot!

11 ~ I have a problem with procrastination. Well I don't necessarily have a problem with it but everyone around me has a problem with my procrastination.

10 ~ I've always wanted to know how to pole dance.  Settle.  Down.  Nobody's dancin for the groceries or anything I just think it would be fun to be like "yes I'm mormon, I don't drink, I don't sleep around, but I can do THIS" and then like flip upside down on a pole or something really, really crazy!

9 ~ My favorite number is 56.

8 ~ I miss wearing tank tops.

7 ~ I want to meet someone special I really do.  But, when someone smiles at me I don't usually think "oh nice! Potential suitor" even if he's really cute, I'm usually thinking "what the hell is he lookin at??"

6 ~ I'm a pretty phenomenal dancer in the club.  On a scale of 1-10 I'm easily a 9.

5 ~ I have this thing for super tall guys who are teddy bearish and huggable. Example: Marshall (Jason Segel) from How I Met Your Mother. I don’t really fancy the thin guys.

4 ~ I love kids!  I really love talking and spending time with kids. They never fail to make me feel happy.

3 ~ I love ketchup, like love, love it.

2 ~ I often spread myself too thin, which causes a lot of stress.

1 ~ I. Am. Funny.  I'm not kidding.  People love me.

Can you hear me now. . . .

{1}Do you prefer to text or call?
Text.  I like that I can take time to think about my response.  My brother text me something a few months ago that, unintentionally, really hurt my feelings and if he had called I would have said a lot of things I didn't mean.  Instead I was able to cool off and handle the situation rationally, even if I still don't agree.  Also, if I don't want to talk to them texts are a lot easier to ignore.

{2}What is the last text message in your phone and who is it from?
"One ring, ten rings what difference does it make?  U still don't answer my calls"
My friend Nick who thinks I ignore his phone calls even after I explained it only rang once before going to voicemail.

{3}What are your favorite phone apps?
My new photo editor I just downloaded last week.

{4}At what age do you think kids are ready for a cell phone?
I would say if you can afford it, early teen.  My nieces are almost 14 and it has been quite convenient.  Now if I could just train them that "tell Melyssa to get off the computer" is not an emergency and don't disturb Aunt Erin at work!!

{5}Share a current pic or video taken with your phone.
I took this photo on Saturday after the Cornfest we were walking back to my mom's house and I had asked Mckenzie to hold Tayson's hand to make sure he didn't stop walking.  There were red ants all over the trail and I was afraid he'd stop right on an ant hill or hold still long enough for one to bite him.

Day 22 - A letter to someone who has hurt you recently.

Dear Bathroom Scale,

It's not me, it's you.

I invited you into my loving home and this is the thanks I get.  Oh yes we've had good times like when I had the flu and lost 15 pounds in less than a month or when I joined the gym and lost another 10 (remember that time Tayson peed on you....priceless).  But lately all we share are tears.

I don't know about you but I can't live like this any longer!  I've held on for so long because it's just so hard to find good help these days.  No more.  You are useless and lazy.  I work hard all day while you just lay around on the floor.  The only thing I've ever asked of you is to lie to me.  But NOoooooo!  I guess that was asking too much wasn't it?

Well have fun at the landfill traitor!

Love,
E

Day 20 - The meaning behind your blog name.

When I set my blog up I was blaring music from my ipod which is pretty normal at my house.  While trying to think of a name my mind was kind of wandering in the direction of "life's journey" and then a Chris Ledoux song came on:

Sit tall in the saddle, hold your head up high
keep your eyes fixed where the trail meets the sky
and live like you ain't afraid to die
and don't be scared, just enjoy the ride

Of course because I had the perfect name the URL was taken so I just used my name.  About a year ago I decided I wanted to change it and so pondering at my laptop once again with the music on George Strait was singing these words:

Find a truck and fire it up
lean on the gas and off the clutch
leave Dallas in the dust
so baby run

I just kept coming back to "lean on the gas and off the clutch".
So it probably makes sense to no one but me but that's ok because I am the sheriff, judge, and executioner around here.

Love, Misery, and Food. . . .

Photobucket

I confess. . . .

*  I found this station on Pandora that is all old school love songs.

*  Boys II Men, Bryan Adams, Richard Marx, Eric Clapton, Journey,.

*  Love.  It.

*  Wednesday was a bad day.

*  Bad, bad day.

*  If I worked in an office that the customers actually had to come into, someone would have been shanked.

*  My boss had his ornery pants on.

*  My brother got married yesterday and was having his rehearsal dinner Wednesday which no one really knew about until Wednesday morning.

*  I was getting calls about what time and where was it at.

*  How about maybe calling the people in charge?  Ever think of that one genius.

*  No matter, tomorrow is CornFest and I'm gonna eat corn on the cob, navajo taco's, and funnel cakes until my stretchy pants don't fit anymore.

Day 18 - Something you crave a lot.

I'm sorry Beth....Look away!

Day 17 - A photo of you and your family.

Day 16 - Your celebrity crush.

Well besides the obvious ones

I have a recent crush.  I always thought he was hott but then I saw this

and I fell deeply in lust.  Because who doesn't want to be serenaded?

Day 15 - Something you don't leave the house without.

OMG I die!  I die!  I have forgotten this little nugget on occasion and it is not pretty.  It is my life line to the outside world.

Not to mention my outlet from work.  I would have no way to get all my complaints to Ryanne all day....sad!

Monday, August 22, 2011

Day 14 - A TV show you're currently addicted to.

Have you met Barney. . . .

Day 13 - Your favorite musician and why?

Sorry, can't do it.  I can't pick just one.  I can't even pick a favorite song.  It's impossible for someone such as myself who loves music to pick just one.  All the kids always want to ride with me because they know I will be blaring music....and because I'm so cool and all that other stuff.  So, this is what I propose.  I'm going to hit shuffle on my ipod and give you the first 10 artists and then check them out and tell me which one you like best.

1. Nickelback
2. Kenny Chesney
3. OneRepublic
4. Waylon Jennings
5. Rihanna
6. SHeDAISY
7. Nelly
8. John Michael Montgomery
9. Lorrie Morgan
10. Bone Thugs-N-Harmony

You see!  I can't pick one I'm too diverse when it comes to music.

Day 12 - A photograph of the town you live in. . . .

Utah's Dixie. . . .

Day 11 - What's in your makeup bag.

Bare Minerals foundation, Revlon black eyeliner, Almay smoky intense eyeshadow, and Covergirl mascara.

3 strikes and your out. . . .

I confess. . . .

*  I go to Applebee's way, way too much.

*  Like they know my name and I don't have to order my drink they automatically bring it to me, sometimes before I'm seated, too much.

*  This will not stop or slow me down I just thought I would confess that.

*  Last night was bingo and yours truly won a bat.

*  Yes, a bat.  A plastic bat that you would buy for your 2 year old.

*  I have been playing bingo every Thursday for about 4 weeks trying to win this bat.

*  Yes, I know I could go to the dollar store and get one for probably $.50 but that's not the point.

*  I wanted to WIN it!

*  The bingo caller knew this because I had threatened her many, many times that I wanted it.

*  My friend even told her my fav colors were blue and yellow so she promised to save me the yellow one.

*  I was so excited when I won I yelled "ME, ME, ME" instead of the customary "BINGO"

*  Then I went up to claim my prize. . . .

*  Only to have her hand me a GREEN bat!

*  What?  Are you freaking color blind?  Was I not clear enough?  Was the threats with the jello shot swords not convincing?

*  But because I'm a mature adult I graciously accepted my green prize, returned to my seat, and then I may or may not have flown a bird in her direction....no one really remembers.

{1} Did you live in the same town or move around a lot as a child?
We only moved once.  When I was 4 my family moved from Michigan to a small town in Utah.  I feel so blessed to have grown up in a small town and to now only be an hour away.  Whether it's been a day, a week, or a month, it always feels good to go home.

{2} What were your parents like?
Both of my parents worked full time jobs while I was growing up.  My mom is the perfect balance between friend and parent.  She was not afraid to whip my butt when I deserved it but she also took me and my friends "cruisin' main" and taught me how to sneak the car out of the driveway.  My dad was a true blue collar worker.  He would come home from work everyday and ask me to take his boots off, which I always complained about but secretly I loved because we would talk about our day.  When I was little he would play Kenny Rogers vinyl records, I would stand on the fireplace, and we would dance.  I remember going to the movies one time with my parents and I was so embarrassed that they were holding hands!

{3} Do you have any siblings? What were they like growing up?
I have 4 brothers and 1 sister.  We laughed a lot!  Mostly at each other.  There was a lot of teasing.  We are still that way today which is probably why I'm not as open about some stuff or introduce them to any guys in my life because I would never hear the end of it.

{4} Share a short story from your childhood.
About a block from our house was a wash that frequently had water running through it.  Normally this was the way we walked to school but if there was water running we had to take a different route where there was a bridge to cross, but this alternate route took an extra long time.  So we would tell my mom that we would take said route and then really we would try to hop scotch across some rocks where the water wasn't too deep.  Inevitable one of us always fell in and ended up having to go home to change.  My mom would be so mad, then we do it again the very next day.

{5} What did you look like?

What?  I would like to keep him as a pet....

Day 4 - Your favorite photograph of your best friend. . . .

Not one of  her proudest moments but I definitely love the look she is giving my niece who thought the outfit was pretty funny.

This party is about to become a historical fact. . . .

Photobucket
*  Tonight I'm hosting my annual "Back to School-overdose-on-sugar-and-soda-your-welcome-for-that-dentist-bill" party.
*  I don't know when this became a tradition but I guess it has.

*  I wasn't really planning any big sleepover parties with the nieces and nephews.

*  They let me know real quick that I was.

*  Last week I got talked into having some of the kids sleep over for what I thought was the party.

*  It was not.

*  They informed me it was the "sleepover to plan the sleepover".

*  Kids 1, Erin 0.

*  I asked them last night what the plan was...."we don't know"

*  What?!  You mean you spent all night painting your nails and watching "Baby Mama" and didn't come up with one thing to do for our official back to school party?!

*  Good thing they are not too picky.

*  Except when it comes to cookies.

*  They will get down right violent if you run out of Chips Ahoy before bedtime.

Day 3 - Your idea of the perfect first date. . . .

Speed dating.  I've never tried it but after this last horrible date I'm convinced it is the only way to go.  You get 3-5 minutes to decide if you want to see them again.  I realize sometimes it takes longer than 3-5 minutes to decide if you want to see someone again but it takes no less than 2 minutes for me to decide I don't want to see them again.

In bed. . . .

Day 2 - A photo of something you ate today.

Oh Panda....I ♥ you!

Someone once told me to add the phrase "in bed" to the end of any fortune you get from a cookie.  Try it.  You'll laugh.

Watching tv often means fighting, violence, and foul language and that's just deciding who gets the remote. . . .

1. If you could be on any game show what would it be?
I'm pretty sure we already had this question, or something similar, but it's still 'Press Your Luck'

2. If you could stay any certain age forever, what would it be?
26. . . .Old enough to know better but still too young to care.

3. What were you doing 30 minutes ago?
I was standing in line at Kneaders baker because I have the kind of boss who forgets people's birthdays and then sends me to pick up the cake.

4. What would I find in your fridge right now?
Milk, eggs, tortilla shells, cheese, and of course the most important food group. . . .a butterfinger.

5. If you were a piece of furniture what would you be? Why?
Definitely a tv.  Everyone loves the tv and everyone wants to be around the tv.  Plus I would mess with people and turn on/off or switch channels randomly.

I was just practicing the ancient Japanese art of karaoke. . . .

Day 1 - A photo of yourself and a description of how your day was.

Well it's Tuesday which means my boss is in town so my day was just ok.  As opposed to most days when my boss is working 2 hours away so I know he can't just pop in on me and catch me on Facebook, Netflix, or catching up with all my bloggy friends (not that I do ANY of those on company time).

Tuesday also means karaoke at Applebee's.  It's a tradition like apple pie, or sparklers in July.  There's a lot of regulars that come to karaoke every Tuesday.  My favorites are Wyatt and Alexis.  Wyatt because he sings songs like Celine Dion "It's all coming back to me now".  You have to love that.  He sings good enough to put on a show but doesn't take himself seriously.  He is literally a superstar at karaoke, everyone loves him and you'll know when he shows up because the DJ will give one of these "Wyatt is in the house everybody" and everyone cheers.  Freakin.  Hilarious.  Alexis on the other hand sings like she's expecting feedback from Randy, Steven, and JLo.  She works the whole waving hand and winking at the crowd.  It gets uncomfortable if your too close.  It's Applebee's sweetie, no one's getting the golden ticket to Hollywood here.

What is a date, really, but a job interview. . . .

This weekend I was asked out on 4 dates.  4!  I haven't been on 4 dates this entire year (I don't count "hangouts") and now 4 in one weekend???  But, it all went downhill very quickly.  Let me start from the beginning. . . .

Guy #1 – Technically this was not a date, but I’m counting it because this is my blog and we live by my rules around here.  #1 asks me to go to his family’s cabin for “some or all” of the weekend.  It was a big group thing, he had invited several other people (see not a date) and I really, really wanted to go.  In fact I made a plan to go Friday night and then things just didn’t work out that I could go.  I hate when things don’t work out.

Guy #2 – Some guy who I have seen around town but never met messaged me on FB
“How are you?  Want to get together and drink some beers?”
Seriously dude?  Know your audience.

Guy #3 – Technically this wasn’t a date either although I’m almost certain he would have bought me dinner first.  One of my “friends” (I’ll be reevaluating our friendship after this incident) birthday is on Tuesday and he asked me if I wanted to go to Mesquite and have “birthday sex” with him.   Of course this was AFTER another girl canceled on him.  I told him I was nobody’s back up plan (among several other reasons why we would never be having birthday sex) and he said “no big” and went into some story about how many girls want him and I pretended my cell phone cut out and hung up on him.  I win!

Guy #4 – Seriously, this was doomed from the beginning.  First, I met him online which I didn’t want to participate in anyway.  Second we had been messaging each other for weeks and didn’t really have a lot to say to one another.  I thought once we met in person it would be better.  Wrong.  But that was just the first of many wrongs for this date:
*I'm pretty sure his shirt had been in the laundry hamper with all the other dirty ones for at least 4 days.
*He talked about washing his truck in booty shorts, more than twice.
*He told a few racial jokes.  Even after I didn’t laugh at the first one.
*When he walked me to my truck I was too distracted by the crumbs on his shirt to have an actual conversation.
I kept thinking “he can’t possibly think this is going good”.

Oh but he did.  He kept talking about how he wanted to go out again.

APPLICATION DENIED.

Naturally, I went home and ate half a pan of brownies and drank milk straight from the carton.

Suit up. . . .

Photobucket

*  A very dear, dear friend lent me seasons 1 & 2 of 'How I met your mother'.

*  Seriously. Freakin. Hilarious.

*  I never watched this show because I'm not a huge fan of Doogie Howser.

*  But seriously he is so freakin funny in this show and I can really relate to him.

*  Such as 'The Lemon Law'

*  I joined a new dating site and one of the questions was "do you have a car?"

*  Seriously?

*  So I put no....just to mess with people.

*  Does that put me below the Vickie Mendoza Diagonal?

*  Is there really someone out there going "I found the perfect girl but, she doesn't have a car so it would never work out."

*  Tomorrow night is my first date with someone I met online.

*  I'll let you know if I'm forced to invoke the Lemon Law.
